Your Body Isn’t Broken – it’s speaking

Have you ever found yourself wondering, quietly and perhaps with a sense of frustration or sadness… “What’s wrong with me?”

Perhaps your body feels anxious for no clear reason.
Exhausted, even after rest.
Overwhelmed. Disconnected. Not quite yourself.

It’s such a common experience. And yet, what I’ve come to understand – through my own journey and through supporting others – is this:

Your body isn’t broken.
It’s communicating.

I recently had the pleasure of joining Gillian Wray on her Unmuted podcast to explore this deeply important and often misunderstood relationship between our nervous system, our sense of safety, and our body’s wisdom.

In this conversation, I share my own path from burnout, ineffective medication, and searching for answers outside myself, to discovering the profound intelligence within. Growing up in Belfast during the Troubles, I learned early how environments of uncertainty and perceived danger shape our nervous system, our voice, and our ability to feel safe simply being ourselves.

This episode is an invitation to begin seeing your body differently, not as something that has failed you, but as something which has been protecting you.

We explore:

  • Why anxiety and burnout are often protective responses, not personal failures
  • How your nervous system is constantly responding to your perception of safety
  • The role of the vagus nerve in stress, regulation, and recovery
  • How your thoughts, beliefs, and inner dialogue influence your body chemistry
  • The difference between responsibility and response-ability
  • How to gently rebuild trust with your body
  • Simple, compassionate ways to reconnect with your intuition
  • And the essence of the W·I·L·D® approach: Wonder, Intuition, Loving ourselves, and learning to Dance with Life

At its heart, this conversation is about remembering something many of us were never taught:

Your body is not your enemy.
It is your ally.
It has been adapting, responding, and doing its very best to keep you safe.

When we begin to listen differently, everything can begin to change.

If you’ve been feeling exhausted, disconnected, or as though you’ve somehow lost trust in yourself, I hope this conversation offers reassurance – and perhaps a gentle doorway back to yourself.

You are not broken. You are wise.

And as always, I’d love to hear what resonates with you.
