We all experience moments of stress or anxiety — it’s part of life’s ebb and flow. In these posts, I share simple, supportive practices to help both you and navigate challenges with greater ease, and open the door to a more peaceful, connected and fulfilling way of being.
Balance can be such a fragile thing, can’t it? Even when we think we’re pretty solid and stable, it can take a fairly ‘small’ thing to unsettle us, knock our confidence and sense of security, and leave us questioning where we are, what we’re doing and where we’re going. On the morning of 20 November… Read More »Keeping Your Balance
What an interesting process it is, selling your house and looking for a new place to live! The first response everyone gives me when I say that we’re moving is: “Oh, that’s so stressful…!” My husband and I have been house hunting for a couple of months now. We’re looking for a place with land… Read More »Staying Balanced and Sane in Stressful Situations
Nature is more than a backdrop — she’s a wise and compassionate ally on our healing journey. Here I share reflections, stories and gentle practices to help you reconnect with the natural world and, in doing so, with your own true nature.
Whether it’s the grounding presence of trees, the rhythm of the seasons, or the quiet teachings of our animal kin, these posts invite you to step outside, slow down, and remember the deep belonging that’s always available — within and all around you.
Did you know that next Friday, 12 July is National Simplicity Day? I’ve been a fan of simplicity for a long time, believing that we as humans – and certainly myself as an individual – can have a great tendency to overcomplicate things. I think this is at least in part due to our brain’s negative… Read More »Simplicity
Last week I wrote about the importance of Keeping It Simple & Straightforward so, on the surface, the title for this week’s post might seem a bit of a contradiction. And maybe this is one of those fabulous paradoxes that I love! But as well as valuing simplicity, I also feel that diversity is essential and should… Read More »Diversity
…and what – if anything – does it have to do with me? According to Rewilding Britain: Rewilding is the large-scale restoration of ecosystems where nature can take care of itself. It seeks to reinstate natural processes and, where appropriate, missing species – allowing them to shape the landscape and the habitats within. https://www.rewildingbritain.org.uk/rewilding To me,… Read More »What Is This Thing Called ‘Rewilding’
I have been invited to present at a Mind Body Soul Summit in December and as part of my preparation for this, I wrote the following blog. The Summit is entitled Release With Gratitude, and so the presenters will all be exploring various perspectives on this. The organiser, Sue Allsworth of Authentic Smile, is also… Read More »Release and Wonder: The Gifts of Gratitude
I’ve started to write this blog in my head so many times but not yet had the opportunity to ‘put pen to paper’ – or as I do more often these days, put fingertips to keys! Each inner draft has seen the content shift and change, reflecting my sense that everything around me is shifting… Read More »Learning to bend so I don’t break!
I initially wrote this blog early last week, but then something happened on Thursday which prompted me to write this short edit. A friend I deeply respect, told me she felt I wasn’t being honest with myself about my responsibility in the situation I find myself with Dax, and that I was placing the blame… Read More »Learning to Dance in the Rain
I believe that both of these factors play a large role in our wellbeing. In terms of nature, there is our own inner nature and also the Nature all around us. When we spend time in Nature it has been proven that this supports our wellbeing. The sights and sounds of the natural world can… Read More »Is mental health nature or nurture?

Are people right when they say I’m ‘too sensitive’? Do you ever find that your emotional responses seem to be out of proportion to the situation you find yourself in? That you experience a spiral of fear, anxiety or anger, or feelings of abandonment and overwhelm? If this happens to you, it will most probably… Read More »Why am I always over reacting? (Part 1)
I should explain that when I’m talking about ‘trauma’, it has to be understood from a very subjective perception, that is, the perception of who you were at the age when the trauma occurred. Often we might look back over our lives and dismiss events as being ‘trivial’, or ‘so long ago’, forgetting that for… Read More »Attachment versus Authenticity (Part 2)
What then can you do? How can you support yourself? For me, the first thing is to notice when you feel this way and to recognise that this is what might be happening for you. Then just pause, take a breath and listen to your body. Using the principles of Compassionate Inquiry®, explore the following… Read More »Exploring our trauma with deep self-compassion (Part 3)
Robyn Harris November 19, 2021 (This is the fourth part of a series and I recommend reading parts 1-3 before this one.) I recommend taking this journey one step at a time, as you feel ready, remembering to stay open and curious, and putting aside any judgement. Be gentle and compassionate with yourself as you… Read More »Taking conscious self-care steps after Trauma (Part 4)
Self-care is so much more than bubble baths and to-do lists — it’s a sacred act of listening to what your whole being truly needs. In this space, we’ll explore the deeper layers of wellbeing and self-awareness, gently reconnecting with the wisdom of your mind, body and spirit.
Together, we’ll remember how to live in rhythm with the natural world, and nurture a sense of balance, joy and wholeness from the inside out.
Is it just me, or does this winter seem to be dragging on for a particularly long time? It’s been wonderful to see the days getting longer – I’ve been very grateful for those extra few minutes of daylight when I go to see the horses in the morning and evening – but the stormy… Read More »Why self-care is actually a very generous way to share!
Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about why I do what I do, and why I love working with the people who come to me. Basically, it’s because I was that person. Rewind a few years and I was very unhappy. Initially I tried to tell myself that I was ‘fine’, or at least that… Read More »Coming home to the Self
I was recently having a discussion with a small group of friends and the term ‘self-compassion’ came up. One member of the group was unfamiliar with this word which made me wonder how many others are in the same situation? It’s a fairly self-explanatory concept, and one that’s very common in my field of work,… Read More »What Is Self-Compassion
For me, the best way to improve our wellbeing – on all levels – is to develop our awareness of what’s really going on within ourselves. To do this, it’s important to have a sense of open curiosity along with a deep compassion for our Self – to understand that we really were doing the… Read More »How can I improve my emotional wellbeing?
We're often encouraged to keep our thoughts positive - but what about when that's the last thing that we actually feel?! Should we compromise our authenticity in this way, or how can we navigate this dilemma?
Welcome to a space of honesty, healing, and hope. This is where I share parts of my own journey — the messy bits, the magic, the turning points — and the gentle wisdom that’s unfolded along the way.
Through these reflections, I hope to offer you a sense of companionship — a reminder that you’re not alone, and that healing is possible. Together, we can honour our stories, embrace our vulnerabilities, and uncover the strength and beauty that live within us all.
As I was saying yesterday, I began searching for a magic wand that would make everything better, but eventually I came to the realisation that really I am the only one who can turn things around for myself and create the life I want to live. That changing my perceptions profoundly changes how I experience… Read More »A little of my story (3)
Fast forward several years… I got through the ME and got a wonderful job with a fabulous boss and mentor, which really helped me get back on my feet. This was originally going to be a ‘live’ on my Facebook group, and then a video, but it quickly became a much longer piece and so I thought I’d write it instead because I know I have a tendency to go off on a tangent and at least this way I can more easily edit… Read More »A little of my story (1)
The recent global pandemic was a powerful turning point — shaking the foundations of our sense of safety, connection, and wellbeing. As we moved through waves of uncertainty, fear and anxiety became daily companions for many.
In these reflections, I share gentle insights and supportive practices which emerged during that time — ways to steady ourselves, tend to our nervous systems, and reconnect with what truly matters. It’s an invitation to explore how we can meet life’s challenges with compassion, resilience, and a deeper trust in our inner and outer resources.
Having looked at the impact that fear can have on our wellbeing, I’d like to encourage you to do all you can to address any feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, or panic around Coronavirus and its potential impact on your health, finances, businesses, travel, etc or on that of those close to you. There are many… Read More »Why the pandemic of fear is at least as worrying as Coronavirus itself (4)
The META Conscious™ perspective on the symptoms of Covid-19 would be to consider the following: Our bodies seek to be in harmony with the environment around them. They actually function in synergy with bacteria, viruses and fungi, using them to support this wellbeing process. (If you’d like to know more about this, check out the… Read More »Why the pandemic of fear is at least as worrying as Coronavirus itself (3)
The impact of coronavirus is therefore much more than just the possibility of catching it, and we need to remember that in most cases the symptoms are not life threatening. In fact, fear is much more contagious, as has been shown by the widespread media coverage and the empty supermarket shelves. I believe that the… Read More »Why the pandemic of fear is at least as worrying as Coronavirus itself (2)
You might have noticed that I’m posting this blog series ‘early’ – I normally post on the first weekend of the month – but I felt it was important to make a response to the current situation – one that focuses on wellbeing – in this time of uncertainty. I will be sharing the article… Read More »Why the pandemic of fear is at least as worrying as Coronavirus itself
In uncertain times, it’s completely natural to feel a whole swirl of emotions — from hope to fear, from peace to overwhelm, sometimes all in the same day. If your mood’s been up and down, please know you’re not alone.
There’s no right or wrong way to feel. Every emotion is valid, and every part of you is welcome here. This is a space to breathe, to be, and to know that you’re held — just as you are.
So, my message is that whatever you’re feeling, it’s ok. The situation we find ourselves in at the moment is far from normal and so if you feel that you’ve lost your sense of balance, that’s perfectly natural. But there are things you can do to support yourself, you don’t have to do it alone,… Read More »Whatever You’re Feeling Right Now, it’s OK (part 5)
These feelings can become overwhelming and between this and the current ‘lockdown’ restrictions, we can feel, metaphorically, like we’re ‘drowning’ or ‘struggling to breathe’. If this resonates for you, I invite you to try some breathing exercises, or to use this tapping technique to help yourself feel more comfortable. If you find yourself feeling lost,… Read More »Whatever You’re Feeling Right Now, it’s OK (part 3)
Having taken some time out (see part 1) I now feel more grounded and centred again. This means that I feel I have a more solid base from which to create and to Be, both for myself and for my practice. I have used this creativity to make some new posts – and even videos,… Read More »Whatever You’re Feeling Right Now, it’s OK (part 2)
I wanted to share some further thoughts, and my learnings, from this current situation, in the hope that it might offer encouragement and some useful ideas and tips. Bearing in mind that we’re in information overload at the moment, I’ll keep the posts short and hopefully easy to read. When the Coronavirus lockdown started, it… Read More »Whatever You’re Feeling Right Now, it’s OK (part 1)
Written during the time of the coronavirus pandemic, this piece explores both the challenges and quiet gifts of unexpected downtime. It was as if we’d been asked to step off life’s spinning carousel — and in that sudden pause, many of us found ourselves facing a new and unfamiliar reality.
In these reflections, I gently explore what it means to slow down, listen in, and find meaning in the space between doing and being.
A wonderful friend of mine, Jules Chabeaux, recently shared a newsletter in which she talked about the Lock Down being an opportunity for us to Key Up. This got me thinking about ‘Ki’ – as in Rei-Ki, or Life Force Energy. I believe that this time is challenging us to step into our authentic ‘Ki’… Read More »Making the most of this time of pause (part 5)
Infinite Potential If we bring together all that we can learn from Nature and the animals, I believe that we have infinite potential to create a new way of being that better serves us, both as individuals, and as a collective. Animals For those of us who are now home based, and sharing our homes with animals, this Pause (or should that be ‘Paws’ in this case! 😊) is the perfect opportunity to have more quality time with them. Many will appreciate some extra cuddles, grooming or play. Engaging with them in this way releases oxytocin… Read More »Making the most of this time of Pause (part 3)
Nature For me, one way we can do this is by getting back to Nature. We can approach this in a variety of ways: By sitting in Nature and noticing all the different sights, scents, sounds and sensations By observing the feelings we experience when we do this By contemplating the Life Force shared by… Read More »Making the most of this time of Pause (part 2)
One of the things that I love best about my work is when I can bring all the various aspects together: people, nature and animals. The other day, as I was pondering this time of staying at home, I realised that this is the perfect opportunity for us all to do just that! People This… Read More »Making the most of this time of Pause (part 1)
How Best to Support Our Wellbeing — Now and Into the Future
When I look around at our world today, I sense how easy it is to get caught up in fear, worry, and negativity — especially amid the media and everyday chatter. But I truly believe we can choose a different path.
This is a moment to gently shift our focus back to caring for ourselves with kindness and intention. To listen deeply to what our bodies and hearts need, and to take small, loving steps toward balance and vitality.
Together, we can nurture wellbeing that lasts — not just in the here and now, but as a steady foundation for all the days to come.
So, my vision: I would love this to be a time that we can look back on and recognise as a major turning point in our lives. A time when we: went within and rediscovered ourselves and our values learnt how to ‘lean into’ these and to follow the deepest guidance of our hearts learnt… Read More »How best to support our own wellbeing, both now, and going forward (5)
Connecting with others One of the biggest challenges of our current ‘lockdown’ situation is that it is lessening our ability to engage in face-to-face interaction with others. Humans are social beings and we need to feel a sense of connection in order to experience full wellbeing. In the initial shock and fear of coronavirus the… Read More »How best to support our own wellbeing, both now, and going forward (4)
Gratitude Gratitude has been scientifically shown to improve our physical and mental wellbeing. When we take steps to include this in our daily practice it uplifts us and supports many of the other points that I’ve listed here. What’s more, it’s so simple to do, doesn’t have to cost anything or take up any extra… Read More »How best to support our own wellbeing, both now, and going forward (3)
If you’ve been following my blog, you might have seen an earlier post of mine where I explained that our inner state of balance is not a static thing. It’s just like keeping your balance on a bicycle, surf board, or anything else – it’s dynamic and responsive, requiring us to be fluid and flexible… Read More »How best to support our own wellbeing, both now, and going forward (2)
One of the things that I’m finding most concerning at this time is that we seem to be so focused on fear and the things not to do, rather than things we can do to take care of ourselves and our wellbeing, both now and going forward into the new ‘normal’, whatever form that might… Read More »How best to support our own wellbeing, both now, and going forward (1)
Writing these posts has been a heartfelt journey — sometimes challenging, often healing. My hope is that they bring comfort and connection to anyone feeling isolated or overwhelmed.
Please remember, no matter how heavy things feel, you are never alone. We’re in this together, holding space for one another with kindness and hope.
This is one of the hardest pieces I’ve ever written, and yet I want to reach out to anyone who might find themselves in the same position, to say that although you probably feel very alone at the moment, please know that there are others out there who care, and who will understand at least… Read More »Saying Goodbye
Kali loved to spend time outdoors, either exploring or sitting in the sunshine and enjoying its warmth. During the winter she didn’t go out as much, as she hated the cold, and instead enjoyed the odd game of chase to keep up her hunting skills. She loved to be up at a height where she… Read More »Saying goodbye – Kali Kat
I chatted with Kali about how I was feeling, asking her forgiveness for the times when I was sad and worried about losing her. Doing this helped me to realise that feeling upset was only serving to rob me of the gift of this time together and so, for the most part, I was able… Read More »Saying goodbye – the last weeks
Over the last couple of months, I had noticed that Kali seemed to suddenly appear much older. Last summer she’d had a burst of new energy and had regularly gone out hunting on the land around our house. She was much too successful for my liking, but it was heartening to see that she was… Read More »Saying goodbye – precious times
We brought our precious girl home with us again and put her in a box with a couple of her blankets and some toys until the next day when Tim made her a lovely wooden coffin and dug a grave for her by her favourite sunny step where she used to sit on summer evenings… Read More »Saying goodbye – returning home
Everywhere I turn there are memories of her, and I keep finding more bits of ‘kitty paraphernalia’ – who knew one small cat could have so many things?!
